DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading global provider of airport baggage handling systems Glidepath has secured a contract to provide an automated baggage system to Daniel Oduber Quirós Airport in Liberia, Costa Rica. The terminal development project is aimed at empowering the region which is gateway to some of the most spectacular and exclusive destinations in Costa Rica and the second largest airport in the country. Glidepath is contracted to the airport concessionaire Coriport S.A. which holds a 20 year concession to operate the airport.

“South and Central America is a key market for us,” says Glidepath’s Chairman Sir Ken Stevens. “We have committed to the region by hiring dedicated Spanish speaking sales and technical staff in order to provide local support and technical assistance to our valued customers.” Glidepath has completed over 30 projects to date in the Latin America region and Costa Rica becomes the 63rd country that Glidepath has installed its product and sold services into.

Air Canada has been flying Canadian tourists to the beaches of Guanacaste and back for almost four years with it twice a week - Thursdays and Sundays - flights from Toronto during the high December. This year it will add an additional flight, from Montreal.

In December the airline will add a weekly flight - Mondays - from Montreal's Trudeau airport to Liberia, non-stop, leaving Montreal at 11:25am and arriving at the Daniel Oduber airport at 4:15pm. The return flight leaves at 5:15pm and arrives in Montreal at 11:45pm.

The flight is five and half hours on a airbus 319 with a capacity of 120 passengers

plane takeoffGatwick Airport is to start providing direct flights to Costa Rica next month courtesy of Thomson Airways.

From November 2nd, weekly services will run between the London travel hub and Liberia in Costa Rica, which is located between the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

The new flights are accompanied by a range of holiday packages from Thomson, which has added Costa Rica as a new destination for this year.
